Mara is originally from the Philippines, and her husband is Turkish. She discovered my Instagram profile while searching for a maternity photographer in Mexico City. After browsing my portfolio, she quickly recognized my experience with creative studio portraits and decided to book a pregnancy photoshoot. What caught her attention was my home studio — conveniently located within walking distance from her home in Polanco.
Coordinating the session wasn’t easy, as it involved arranging childcare for their toddler and finding a time that worked with her husband’s full-time schedule. But together, we made it happen.

Capture the Beauty of Your Pregnancy
Mara had been talking with her husband about doing a maternity photoshoot ever since she found out she was pregnant. But to be honest, they never really planned for Mr. Kerechi to be part of the photos, other than offering moral support and maybe helping with outfit changes.
So, imagine his surprise when he was gently told, “Take off your socks and join your wife in front of the camera.” Like many men, his first reaction was, “Wait… I never agreed to this!” I get it — as a man myself, I’m not a fan of being in front of the lens either. That’s why I stick to what I do best: capturing meaningful moments as a maternity photographer here in Polanco.
To produce these elegant maternity portraits, I created a mood board using ideas Mara had and other online sources. I kept everything simple, using a gray background to have some flexibility while editing. This way, it was easier to play with the background’s tonality to match the dress’ color. While I have spent thousands of hours in my home studio or organizing studio shoots at companies’ HQ, shooting a maternity photo session was only the second time, if I consider my wife.
The Kerechi family was thrilled with the creative pregnancy photos — and I couldn’t have been happier with how they turned out. All the time spent planning, researching, and preparing for this maternity session was absolutely worth it. As you may have discovered in my About Section, I “specialize in being not specialized”. This allows me to take on new challenges and further hone my skills, without ever getting bored.
