Now, let me tell you a beautiful story about a corporate headshot session for VIPs of a globally renowned accounting company that entered the international business world a while ago. As with everything in this world, executive members of big companies rarely get to have flexible working hours and enough time to schedule a photography session in the studio ahead of time. More on this later.

Why is it essential to have professional corporate studio headshots?
Giving a straight answer consisting of a list of reasons would be too … common. Following the previous blog articles for corporate studio headshots, such as this one, you will find only “the reason” behind the photos in this article.
Without knowing, the studio photos were used in the Business Mirror. This time, the importance was paramount because a large, internationally renowned accounting company had set foot in a new market. When I initially received the request, I knew nothing about the people I was going to photograph in my home studio – not that it would make a difference. I always try to outdo myself with better photographs, anyway!
One day, I got a message from someone requiring information for a headshot studio session for 5 people.
Hi, are you currently based in Mexico City? I’m looking for a photographer who can do corporate headshots. Planning to schedule it on Monday in Polanco.
After another few quick messages on Facebook Messenger, a quick change of plans to cancel prior engagements I had made, a corporate studio headshots session in my living room was scheduled, a non-refundable downpayment was set, and I was left with a thought: what just happened? Usually, there are a lot of email exchanges, messages, scheduled calls or video calls, and approvals from higher-ups, etc. (The part of being a professional photographer that I’d love to skip.)
Now, here is the real explanation: “Why is it important to have professional corporate studio headshots?” The company had to respect a deadline and supply a set of images to a business platform to make the official announcement about starting their activity. If this is not a compelling argument to have your studio headshots done, I don’t know what else would be.
Time to brag: little did I know that a Facebook message on a Saturday evening inquiring about corporate headshots would get the image above published on a business platform. I won’t comment on the journalistic part of it because they have “forgotten” to mention who did the photo, and even after reaching out to them, they still haven’t changed the photograph with the final edit…
Having my work published has never been a goal in itself, but it makes me proud. While it is a good thing, nothing has changed: I still have a lot to work on and improve my skills as a studio photographer.
Do you see anything out of the ordinary with the studio headshot above? You may not. But at a closer look, the gentleman above, Ezra Panopio (the Senior Director/Head of Risk), had a medical emergency that led to a half-swollen face. That’s the reason for the approach of the entire headshot session; having that many shadows helped reduce the visual impact of the medical problem.
