This gentleman was looking for a corporate photographer in Mexico City, near Polanco, where is his home, to take some headshots and portraits in a studio environment because he missed the company-organized shoot due to a business trip. After a few email exchanges, he decided to give it a shot and avail the studio session.
Being a firm believer in giving all the information upfront and making everything as transparent as possible, the reply to his original inquiry was very detailed, saving precious time for both of us:
Good evening, Thank you for taking the time to reach out to me. I’d love to help you create the headshots and portraits you’re looking for. The process is straightforward and takes place in my home-based studio in Mexico City.
-we need to agree on a date and time; -you need to inform me of what you are looking for in more detail; a good start is to consult my previous work here; -what background color do you prefer: white, grey, or black? As you can see on my website, I favor a black background(see here an example of work I’ve done for BDO CMC-some of the members went ahead and used the images on their LinkedIn, too); depending on the use of the photos white may be a better option;
Clear and concise directions to ensure optimal posing and a relaxed atmosphere.
Images will be delivered digitally, with various crops available, including 1:1, for seamless integration on LinkedIn.
Comprehensive professional skin retouching, addressing aspects such as blemish removal, color corrections for skin tones, stray hair removal, elimination of white spots on black attire, teeth whitening, and sclera whitening. I want to point out that these enhancements are meant to refine the headshots without changing the fundamental appearance of the individuals. I know this step is optional for some applications- it’s up to you if you want it. (This step may take up to 45 minutes/image—hence the 6-image limitations.)
While the features above are inclusive, additional services are available for purchase post-session, contingent upon the digital retoucher’s availability. These services encompass:
Makeup retouching or digital makeup application.
Digital “ironing” of suits.
Digital hairstyling.
Digital cleaning of glasses.
Alterations to chin, forehead, nose, cheeks’ widths/heights.
Any supplementary photos beyond the two included headshots incur an additional charge of 500 MXN per image.
Group shots.
Any [additional] requests that should have been discussed and agreed upon before the headshots session.
The general feedback I receive is that I respond very fast, which is a professional goal set to ensure that all prospective clients will not experience any unnecessary delays. I personally hate having to wait for an answer, be it as simple as a “no” or a “yes.” While I don’t have any systems in place to answer inquiries automatically, the old-fashioned “copy-paste,” along with personalizing each email, ensures a fast and professional response. This is nothing short of the experience of shooting with me in my home-based studio, in the heart of Polanco. See below a sneak peek.
There is no better way to bring me happiness when it comes to my work, other than receiving messages like the one below (well, technically it is- a written review on a Facebook Page or Google My Business profile):
Hi Christian – I had a chance to go through the images just now and they look fantastic! Will download them from the link later tonight once I get home. Thank you so much for your time and work. I will be sure to refer you to any interested colleagues.
Recently, clients have been increasingly requesting black-and-white versions of their images. While the preference is typically for vibrant, colorful photos, all clients will now receive monochrome headshots and portraits at no extra cost.
