Working as a Tokyo vacation photographer is one of the most fun activities of my job. Meeting tourists who visit Japan for the first time brings me joy and recharges my soul with good vibes and energy. Planning a photoshoot in Shibuya is an enjoyable task to do. I have been there countless times to enjoy free time with my family, or for work as a professional photographer.
Tokyo can be a very overwhelming city. That’s why I double my work as a local guide during the shoots I have everywhere in this humongous city.
In this article you will read about:
Down below, you can see an actual life scene I captured in Shibuya, during an overcast day. Keep reading so I can take you to the surrounding tiny streets of one of the world’s most iconic crossings.
Vacation photographer for hire anywhere in Tokyo 23 wards
I have lived in Tokyo for almost two years now with my wife and our little Yorkie. I have been photographing in many places within Tokyo 23 wards. I say many places because it’s almost impossible to be shooting everywhere in this city, which is home to more than thirty-seven million people. According to my experience as a vacation photographer, Shibuya is one of the most popular places for booking photoshoots among tourists.
I love this area especially because there is one of my favorite sushi restaurants, where I place orders from a tablet and get the plates delivered by an electric “train.” I visit this place after every vacation photoshoot in this area.
If you are in doubt if to visit or not, the Shibuya scramble, here are a few things to know about it. It is one of the most known landmarks in Tokyo. An area full of people, restaurants, bars, parlors, shopping malls, and more.
Everywhere you look, there are advertisements. After that, there are more. But the most significant number of something are the people. The countless sheer amount of people seem never to stop. It’s magic. In a matter of minutes, one can witness thousands of people passing in front of its eyes. As a vacation photographer based in Tokyo, this area is gold, from a photographic perspective.
The sentiment one may have when visiting for the first time, the incredibly famous Shibuya crossing, as I have witnessed myself, is absolutely incredible. By seeing so many people crossing at once, it’s a fantastic scene to witness. I always encourage my clients to visit this place during the photoshoot; that way, I can catch on camera their reactions while being in awe. And trust me, for a good 20 minutes, the smiles are as big and bright as this intersection is.
If you wonder where else the Shibuya crossing has been featured, well, only to number a few are the movies Lost in Translation and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. The latter is a movie I have seen at least a handful of times.
I have visited Japan for the first time in 2014th, and I must say, at the time, it never occurred to me that years later, I will have the chance to live here, let alone working as a vacation photographer in Tokyo.
