What services do you offer?
I offer a variety of outdoor and indoor portrait, event, and vacation photography sessions. Studio sessions take place at Tatamy Studio, my home studio.
When and where?
- Outdoor Sessions take place year-round, at any time of the day or week, in and around Tokyo or Yokohama, including some areas around Fuji Mountain.
- Studio sessions take place all year round and are limited to headshots (not full body) and small pet sessions. Headshots are for anyone in need of a high-quality professional portrait for their businesses, LinkedIn profile CVs, or solely for personal archival of one’s appearance. Pet sessions are designed to provide high-quality pictures of pets like dogs, cats, snakes, birds, rabbits, and more
What if I am camera shy?
Most people haven’t spent much time in front of a camera, and both indoor and outdoor photoshoots can overwhelm anyone. It’s a perfectly natural reaction. I will use my experience to guide you through the shoot and to help you feel at ease in front of my camera. The sessions can be as technical as you desire, but many of my clients have commented on how much I put them at ease during their sessions.

What about the weather?
Don’t worry. Plans will go ahead. Rain and snow can actually make your outdoor photography session more interesting, giving your photos a dramatic look.
What about clothing?
In general, clothes with solid colors and limited patterns and logos usually work the best. However, if you are into fashion and like to show off your style and the brands you proudly own, I’ll make sure you stand out even more. At all times, it is important to me that you feel comfortable with what you are wearing.
What about my supportive friend?
At all times, I want you to be comfortable; it’s my top priority. For any reason, if you’d like to bring someone with you, please do so. The more comfortable you feel, the more it’ll help during your session.
What about getting to know you before the session?
I recommend we get in touch before the shoot via Instagram, Facebook, Skype, or FaceTime. This will allow us to chat informally about the photoshoot and to get to know each other. I genuinely believe a human connection help me provide you with the best photos.
What about a way to contact you before the session in case I am late or I get lost?
I will make sure you will have more than one option to contact me. Please note that it may not always be possible to extend your shooting time if I have another client scheduled on the same day.
What about recommending a place for the outdoor photo session?
As a photographer, I maintain a list of ‘go-to’ places that work very well for outdoor sessions. I’d be happy to suggest some locations, but the final decision will always be yours.
What about extending the shooting time?
I would be delighted to spend more time with you. If you anticipate requiring a longer session than originally agreed upon, please notify me as far in advance of our shoot as you can. Despite my best attempts, I may not be able to accommodate such requests.
About The Images You Will Receive
How long will it take for you to deliver my photos?
I usually deliver your photographs in as short an amount of time as I can; sometimes even the same day. In general, you can expect to receive your photos within 14 business days.
In what form will I receive the photos?
Currently, I only deliver digital JPG images in two versions. One version will include high-resolution JPG photos. These are meant explicitly for print or viewing on large screens, such as laptops or personal computers. The second version will consist of smaller JPG images. These are optimized for online media use such as Instagram, Facebook, and other social media, perfect for sharing with family and friends.
What about a page to share the photos with my family and friends?
As a complementary service, I offer a public or password protected page for sharing your images with family and friends for 30 days from the time you receive your photos.
What if I lose the photos?
I offer a complimentary photo storage service for 30 days from the time I receive confirmation from you that you have received the digital files of the photos. This is a complimentary service and cannot be guaranteed in the event of natural disasters.
What about selecting the final images?
I currently work using two options:
- I deliver final images without the client involved in the process.
- I make proofs available to the client to choose the final photos for themselves. The proofs will be unedited images, and the client must agree not to share them, nor associate my name with them, in any way. I may preselect the proofs to ensure you only see technically correct executed images. The total number of photos depends on the package you select.
How much editing do you do?
I genuinely believe that images are a polished product, and every client has the right to choose which way to go with regards to editing. My style includes standard photography editing – much like developing a photo during the film era. I modify the contrast and exposure, and apply white balance (color) corrections to all my photographs, which is an integral part of my style. These adjustments do not affect the likeness of people or places. Additionally, upon request, and for an agreed upon fee, editing may include high-end skin retouching, removal of blemishes or moles, teeth whitening, eye size retouching, or lipstick adjustments. My offers never include unedited images. If desired, for an additional fee, I can offer a time-lapse video of the editing process I used while editing your photos.
What about keeping my images private?
Photographers typically like to use their photos for promotional purposes, marketing, or for inclusion in blog posts. I am no exception. However, everyone has the right to privacy, so if you wish to remain private, please let me know in advance. I respect your privacy, and will never release any personal information, such as your name, email, or other contact information without your permission. Clients agree that Cristian Bucur Photography can not be held accountable in any way, shape, or form for any loss, leakage, or digital theft of any data or digital photographs that may occur between the initial booking contact and when the client receives the digital images.
What are the costs for your services?
Detailed pricing for each service / package can be found on the Packages & Pricing page. Prices are non-negotiable and are subject to 10% tax (most listed prices include the 10% tax). If you require a special session not covered by one of my standard packages, please contact me and I will provide you with a personalized offer to cover all your needs.
What kind of deposit do you require and how can I pay?
Bookings will be confirmed upon receipt of your fixed JP¥10,000 / $94 USD (subject to change based on exchange rates) deposit in my PayPal account. The remaining balance is due in cash on the day of the shoot.
What if we choose a location outside of the Tokyo Metropolitan Area?
In case of shooting locations that require travel costs exceeding JP¥1,500, you will have to cover my travel costs, payable in advance via PayPal.
What if the location of the shoot requires an admission fee?
Any admission fees for shooting locations are the responsibility of the client. Payment is possible either in advance via PayPal or in cash on the day of the shoot. Such details will always be discussed in advance via email.
What is the procedure for booking a session?
Booking a session is very easy. Simply contact me via my contact form.
How far in advance should I book my session?
The further in advance you book your session, the better. Sessions can be booked up to 6 months in advance.
What if I need to cancel the photo session?
Life can throw us a multitude of challenges, and I fully understand that. I will offer a full refund, minus any PayPal related service fees, if you cancel your session 14 days or more before our scheduled session. Requests to cancel sessions less than 14 days before the contracted shoot date will result in forfeit of the full deposit, minus any PayPal related service fees.
What if I need to reschedule?
I may be able to accommodate rescheduling your session once, if my schedule allows, at no extra fee. This is not an obligation from Cristian Bucur Photography, but a courtesy I attempt to offer, depending upon my schedule.
What happens in the case of natural disasters?
In Japan, natural disasters can occur. In case of a natural disaster, you will receive your full deposit, minus any PayPal related service fees.
What happens should the photographer be unable to attend the photoshoot?
To date, I have never had to cancel an agreed upon session. In the very unlikely event this does occur, I will work with you to reschedule at your earliest convenience or provide you with a list of local photographers.

Limitation Of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL I BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, OR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THOSE RESULTING FROM LOSS OF USE, DATA OR PROFITS, WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, AND ON ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF THIS SITE OR ANY OF THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY CRISTIAN BUCUR PHOTOGRAPHY.
FURTHER, I SHALL NOT BE LIABLE IN ANY WAY SHOULD I BE UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE GOODS AND SERVICES PROVIDED BY THIS WEBSITE OR CRISTIAN BUCUR PHOTOGRAPHY. CLIENT AGREES THAT PHOTOGRAPHER CAN NOT BE HELD LIABLE IN ANY WAY FOR ANY ACCIDENTAL MENTAL OR PHYSICAL HARM THAT MAY OCCUR DURING OR AFTER THE PHOTOSHOOT IS CONSIDERED COMPLETED. THE LIMITATION OF LIABILITY ALSO APPLIES TO ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE TO FOOTAGE, PHOTOGRAPHS OR OTHER MATERIALS AFTER THE PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION. THE ONLY REMEDY FOR ANY ACTIONS OR CLAIMS RESULTING FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER’S INABILITY TO DELIVER THE GOODS AND SERVICES ON THIS WEBSITE SHALL BE LIMITED TO 1 (ONE) RESHOOT AT A LATER DATE AGREED UPON BY BOTH PARTIES.
